Cloaks and things

So i spent most of last night in bed thinking about The Cloak. The one I have to make for my husband for Halloween. You would think it isn't anything to worry about since cloaks are easy, heck I have already made one for my son. Only my DOH wants his to be lined...ok easy no problem, but it has to have a hood....ok that's fine, but it also needs the cord ties for closing sewn into the neck. At this point I'm trying to figure out how to keep the lining, insert the hood into the neck, yet still sew and insert the cord into its casing in the neck. Ugh. All my saved bookmarks that talk about making the cloak address one or the other of these details, but never doing all three in the same cloak. Hopefully it turns out. The thing I should be more concerned about making is the poet shirt, otherwise known and the piratey ruffle shirt. Did I mention i was a novice at sewing. Tomorrow will be an interesting day trying to get all this done. I would start today but....Its my son's 2nd Birthday!!! Yay. Cant believe its already been 2 years. We aren't really having a party, but he is eating all his favorite foods today and doing all his favorite activities. I'm actually waiting for the second cake to get out of the oven right now. A few of my DOH's co workers are coming over for cake this evening. Isn't my son so special, he has grown up friends. lol. Well time to go get more stuff done.

New Beginnings

I wonder how many blogs, poems and stories have that title. Doesn't really matter though does it, fits so well. This will be my first ever blog, except perhaps the four ever i typed up on myspace. I'm a little excited to be starting this, just because life is such a learning experience, that its nice to be able to get it all down and share. I tend to try so many new things, and learn, that it can get a little confusing sometimes. That's why i wanted this nice little.....corner, of peace just to think about it and organize it in my mind. Grammar and spelling may not always be spot on, but I don't particularly care about that as much as getting the business in my head onto paper. For now I will just say that I have recently been learning how to sew.
Back in February my husband bought me a nice new pink sewing machine because he knew i had been thinking about getting into sewing. He also wanted to bribe his way back into my good graces since we had a huge fight, and those don't happen very often for us. not Huge ones any ways. So any ways he buys me the machine in February, and then i don't really use it until September. Other than to figure out how the machine works and make a few mistakes. I guess you could say i got discouraged. Then with the help of a few friends...and an awesome fabric district here in Korea. I got inspired. I then decided out of no where to make everything for our Halloween costumes this year. Well except for the masks which my husband has learned how to make out of leather. Some of the pieces have been super easy to put together, and then i have also made my mistakes. Its a fun learning process. So now i have decided to try and take the Wardrobe refashion challenge. Wont this be a fun journey being crafty.
